how they are kept

Private: each one is encrypted on this device with a key that never leaves your devices. ditzl's server keeps only fingerprints.

A second copy: approve your other device on your devices page and keep that page open on both. Photos move encrypted, device to device. The relay in between keeps nothing.

If every device that holds a photo is lost or cleared, that photo is gone. No one else can open it, ditzl included.

Keep iCloud for now. Stop paying only when every photo is on two of your devices and a recovery key exists. The recovery key is not built yet.

iPhone: Safari can clear a site's data when you do not use it for days. Add ditzl.ai to your Home Screen and open it often.

An iPhone may hand over a converted copy - JPEG instead of HEIC, or a smaller video. Each file here shows the type and size the browser gave.

This step keeps files up to {max} each. Big videos and whole libraries come next, from a computer.

Public photos - anyone with the link, stored on Cloudflare by their IPFS address - are not built yet.
